When I was in Germany, the only place you could get one was from the military commissaries. Really no demand from the Germans.

Take a walk in the latin quarter, the old part of town. It is roughly the area bounded by Tivoli, Nørreport Station and Kongens Nytorv. Look at small shops in Sankt Peders Stræde, Larsbjørnsstræde, Læderstræde and Kompagnistræde. Avoid Strøget (the main shopping street), it's mostly mainstream American stores.

If you're looking for museums ... Rosenborg Castle is a classic, but it's halfway closed due to restoration. There's Thorvaldsen's if neoclassic sculpture is your thing, while Glyptoteket has various odds and ends of classic art and paintings, lots of it quite good.

Visit the Round Tower and see the view from the top. Better yet, climb the 400 external steps on the Church of our Saviour (metro to Christianshavn). From here it's a short walk to Christiania (map) for a bit of weirdness.

After dark, you could visit the Christmas market in Tivoli, though I find it overpriced and underwhelming.

If you're going for drinks in central Copenhagen, Café Blasen is a decent dump. Elsewhere, Nørrebro is the most active part of town at night with lots of kebab joints, cafés and bars. Take bus 5A from the centre to Nørrebro Runddel (there's a display in the bus). Nørrebro is also the more off-beat part of town with weird shops, lots of students and immigrants. I live there :-)

Don't walk through Ørstedsparken at night.

We will probably try some of your suggestions. I say "probably" because BG is asleep. We walked by Tivoli last night and recognised it for what it was, which is more or less the Danish version of the damned xmas markets back home in Krautreich, but more expensive, and with more cops at the entrance.

As for shit parts of town, we're at the Norlandia Star Hotel on Colbjørnsensgade, right by the train station. We met some... interesting characters along the way to Størget last night.

We'll prolly do some vaguely touristy things today (I'll have my camera kit in tow) and are up for close to anything tonight. Tomorrow we have until around 1pm before we drive up to Göteborg, so I'm on the look-out for some early a.m. prettiness that I can shoot tomorrow while BG is sleeping off tonight's adventure.

If you're not busy, bored or just plain curious (no other HuSian has met BG), leave a message for room 212. We should be back at the hotel before 19:00 and expect to head out for beverage consumption around 20:00.

Let me guess ... the hotel was cheap? Around Istedgade is the main prostitute and drug area in Cph. It is also a prime location for knife fights and armed robberies late at night, so watch out when you're coming home tonight if you're plastered.

Sadly, I'm busy tonight (fourth night in a row of family obligations) so no Cph Husite meetup :-(

As for early morning prettiness, you've come at just the right time of year - perpetual grey, damp clouds make for great pictures. Or something. Try going up to the lakes across Vesterbrogade, or, if you fancy a longer walk stroll up Frederiksberg Alle to the Frederiksberg gardens.

WOULD VISIT AGAIN!!
We started by going up to Sankt Peders Stræde (that coffee/tea shop makes the most hellishly strong espresso EVAR), hit the Round Tower and although we actually did walk all the way down to Christianshavn, it was getting too damned cold to hit the Church of our Saviour. On the way back we had to walk by Glyptoteket so we hit that as well (it was warmer inside than outside). We gave Tivoli yet another miss.
Having recovered we're preparing to go out to Nørrebro and I've PMed you my cell phone number. In case you get a chance to make a brief excape, send me an SMS and I'll let you know where we are. First round's on me (it's already costing so bloody much I simply won't notice one more beer on the tab).
