Am I really the first to notice this? I had to send an important mail to bro. I found a response from him this afternoon, except it wasn't from him.

PERM_FAILURE: SMTP Error (state 12): 550 SC-004 Mail rejected by Windows Live Hotmail for policy reasons. A block has been placed against your IP address because we have received complaints concerning mail coming from that IP address. If you are not an email/network admin please contact your E-mail/Internet Service Provider for help. Email/network admins, we recommend enrolling in our Junk E-Mail Reporting Program (JMRP), a free program intended to help senders remove unwanted recipients from their e-mail list: http://postmaster.live.com

Complaints from Ballmer, perhaps. So can I sue?

I have a .msn email account... by toxicfur (2.00 / 0) #1 Fri Feb 08, 2008 at 11:15:00 AM EST
which I've largely stopped using. Logging in means going to msn.com, and hoping that when I push the "hotmail" button, it doesn't go into an endless loop of redirects. Then, of course, there would be times when I wouldn't get emails from ana (yahoo or gmail), and ana wouldn't get emails from me. The only reason I keep it is because there are people I've known who have only that email address (I've had it since about 1998 or '99), and it's nice to occasionally get emails from old acquaintances. So yeah. Fuck Microsoft.

I use an application... by toxicfur (2.00 / 0) #6 Fri Feb 08, 2008 at 09:36:10 PM EST
for my iGoogle homepage (it's a mobile hotmail kind of a widget), and that seems to work reasonably well. I'm also trying to get people who regularly use that account to *not* use the account. It's a slow process....

That it's the x-originating-IP that it's looking at.

I'm a little disappointed to have to be telling you  that filtering sites can't be blamed for failing to let things that you wanted through.
